I realize that most of the time you only hear people's opinion about a business is when they have a problem, which skews reviews of said business, and I guess I am no different. I will try to be fair, because I was asking for relief outside of Feather Craft's return policy. Anyway, I wanted to give Solarez resins a try last year, so I ordered the Roadie Kit which includes three small tubes of resin and a light. I finally got around to giving it a try today only to find out the light doesn't work. Well, it will occasionally work for a while if you shake it or slap it on your hand. So, I decided to call Feather Craft and see if they might send me a new light. They informed me that because it was beyond their 30-day window for returns I am SOL. They did offer to contact Solarez and see if they would send me a new light. I thanked them for that effort. By the way, I haven't used UV resin that much and when I do it has been Bondic from the hardware store. I suppose the light on that tube will work.

Maybe I'm being unfair, but I actually expected them to agree to send me a new light in the name of customer satisfaction. Considering the competition in this arena and my long history of buying from them. They're usually not the lowest price option. To be clear I'm not really wrapped around the axel about it; just disappointed, I guess.
 
I would suggest contacting Solarez direct as I have been using there products for quite some time and I had and issue with a rechargeable light and they took care of it. Is the light rechargeable or battery operated? If it’s a battery operated check the battery or replace them if the show any contact issues. Sometimes it’s just a matter of making bad contact. When using UV it’s best to have a hot light by that I mean on that has battery life of recharged. This will make sure the UV sets properly and you don’t end up with a poor set on the cure. The shop buys these in a kit and it could have been on the shelf for awhile and sometimes batteries fail and cause a contact problem and they were probably unaware.

First thing I did was check the battery and contacts. I suspect a poor connection in the sealed head. I'm just going to get a better light. Problem is the resin manufacturers say their lights are the correct wavelength for their products. Kind of locks you into one brand unless you want to purchase multiple lights.

Just FYI- If you’re going to go ahead and buy a separate light, I highly recommend one of the UV “laser pointer” types. It’s an extra concentrated small beam which is nice for precise curing of the resin.

I forget where I got mine, I just did a quick search on Amazon and didn't immediately see one. But despite having numerous UV lights the laser pointer one is what use 99% of the time.

For what it’s worth, my no name light has worked on a number of different brands of UV cures.

You are being unfair. I'm fairly new here and don't want to get beat up this early, but you agreed to his terms. Then, for no good reason, you expect to be treated better because you feel, "They're usually not the lowest price option.". That isn't client loyalty.


There isn't much profit in that transaction, and one doesn't get to lump "all their other transactions" into this particular transaction. It isn't hard to test stuff one buys within a month long period.

My Loon UV light (Infinity) seem to work well on all sorts of UV resins if I give at least 10 seconds of thorough exposure...meaning 10 seconds on all sides.

Feather Craft, through no fault of their own, sold you a defective unit. They would have taken it back within 30 days, and undoubtedly would have sent it back to Solarez. Not sure why they can't do that now. They do have a 30-day policy for returns and are well within their rights to refuse to take it back, but whatever.... This is what we get when we eliminate small local stores and force everything to big box stores and online sales. So it's okay that they refused and it's okay that you not buy from them anymore. I don't think you are unfair, or that they are necessarily unfair, but why buy from them at this point?

Wayne, that describes what I was thinking. You are spot on. I understand them sticking to their policy and I don't think it was unfair of me to ask. I also wasn't implying that I would never buy from them again.

I am not sold on the proprietary light for resin band wagon. So if you dont receive satisfaction......inexpensive options abound.

regardless of where you buy your uv flashlight, they most likely come from some asian country

if paying a 100%+ markup is okay then go for it 👍👍

BINGO!! My stupid, little, cheap UV pointer light is my go-to curing light. The other, bulky ones just sit and gather dust. It seems to outperform all the others.
