Favorite Fly To Tie?

I have a problem with creativity when it comes to tying new flies. I usually end up sitting down and just tying another spider or streamer. I have some health issues that might have me tying more while I'm getting better but I'm looking for some ideas on what to tie. I'm wondering what people's favorite flies to tie are despite how they fish? Just flies that you enjoy tying. There are examples in the vice thread but I usually end up with something like this give or take.

I prefer the original style with Bronze Mallard Wings, but vary the bodies and hackles with modern materials.
Best looking fly there is, imho.

Probably these....probably because I like incorporating little things underneath that no one can see, yet increases the fly's movement immensely depending on placement of said weight/foam. I love that I can have 2 (or 3 or 4) identical looking flies that have different movements in the water based on this (obviously, cadence, strip strength, etc. also plays into it).

The last couple years it's been variants of a graboid type string leech. Latest batch from yesterday for winter's, not practical as I have to many but pawn some off on a couple buddies and donate the unused at end of season then do it again next year. I enjoy building the chassis then varying the color combos, synthetics and collar materials. I tie them smaller and muted for trout swinging as well.

I like tying a variety, a little for trout and mainly for steelhead. I really enjoy tying hair wings and hackle tip wings on hooks, and tying up a few old school rigged shanks come winter.
I find the transition of materials, colors and styles rejuvenates my excitement for tying.

I have too many fly boxes and too many flies yet........I continue to tie. I guess my favorite flies to tie, for now, are variations of jig patterns. The one above is based on John Montana's Hybrid carp fly. I tie jigs down to size 18.

I used to love to tie steelhead flies but haven't fished for steelhead in close to a decade.

I, too, have tied way too many flies and have many that will never see water. My favorite ties are done the day before hitting the water and are tied specifically for that day of fishing, and I love it when they bring me a fish..... Right now it is steelhead flies.

That's kinda the same boat I'm in. Tie a couple and see if they hook something. I usually never even look at the hundreds of flies in the boat bag.

This fall a friend of mine called to tell me he'd had a 70 fish day at a somewhat local lake. I asked him what he'd been using (his nickname is Mr. Bloodworm) and he said "Chronny". I decided to head up there the next morning but instead of a Chronny, the night before I tied up a small and simple beadhead jig:


No where near 70 fish, maybe 30. I took the bug home, retied it using the same hook and bead (something I rarely do).

Unfortunately, every year I seem to have a new favorite to tie. That is why I have enough flies for at least 6 lifetimes.

I mostly enjoy swinging streamers with shanks & trailer hooks for trout, so I tie them the most...and a couple nymphs that I always fish, and even though I have tied several dozen different ones and have them in the box, I still usually only fish three of them...

Dolly Lamas and lately the smallest attainable Addams I can make. (Neither catch much for me lol)

Way to many flies but love sitting down to tie... Just fills my mind with memories and hope of things to come.

Mostly chironomid, with some micro leech, and some dry flies for replacements.
