When I tie this winter would like to tie up a box of jig leeches, so fave jig hook for Indy fishing leeches?

want to tie them without the pin, have tied plenty of the traditional BL's, any tips on how to obtain the best horizontal presentation?

ifSteve created a hot thread (and then left for some unexplained reason) that got into some of this back in April.

My input was the jig hooks (especially the Hanaks and Ahrex) land me more fish than the balanced hooks. So all my bobber leeches are now on jig hooks. Even stuff like #14 BMWs are on jig hooks for me.

I don't worry too much, but there is a right and wrong way to use a slotted bead. I think this guy has it right-

Summary- put hook point thru small round hole. This is fairly obvious to most. The next part is not.
Place/twist the bead so the flat edge contacts the hook shank. This puts the bead the in the farthest position forward, balancing your fly.

And you've reminded me I need to restock my tungsten slotted beads!

Ahrex are sticky and probably my favorite main brand.

There was a guy on ebay named hardydeluxe out of BC. I brought thousands of beads and hooks from him for good price through the years. Not sure he is still around but he was an excellent seller and all the hooks and beads were very quality.

I've landed on the Ahrex mini jig hooks for the same reasons mentioned above.

Ahrex hooks here. The black/reds are on #8’s with 3.8mm slotted beads. The white one is on a #10 with a standard 2.8mm bead on a straight pin. I find the straight pin helps with keeping the leech horizontal but I don’t think the fish really care. IMG_1411.jpeg
