FABs (foam arse blob)

After a frustrating morning, not hardly getting even a strike, I thought I’d try the dark side for something different. I tried a couple different Boobys which failed to work. I had tied up some FABs last winter after reading some British web articles but have never really put any effort into using them. I believe they were made with the intention of trying to learn how to use the Washing Line technique. That task is still on the back burner. Anyways, I used the countdown technique with a little pink Fab and started getting some bites, especially down near the bottom.

So now I’m curious. Do any of you use FABs? What techniques work for you? What colors? Thanks in advance for sharing..

Occasionally I'll resort to a deep line set-up when shallower presentations just aren't working.
Anchor in 30' of water that is marking fish towards the bottom, type 5 goes over the side with a 6' leader w/bloodworm on the end and a chartreuse FAB 3' up, plant the bloodworm just off the muck. With this set-up the FAB acts as an attractor with the bloodworm getting most of the takes. If the bloodworm isn't working I'll go to a Duct Tape chironomid.

I prefer FABs to the traditional Booby fly. They always seem to work best at the times that the fish are off the bite or on something small that you can’t imitate. Try all sorts of bright color combos…they all seem to work.
