Elwha to open for Tribal Coho Fishing

Got their own tribal playground
They did push really hard for that hatchery as I recall
Wonder if it will ever open for recreational fishing
 
I hope it opens before I am too old to fish the upper river...

So, let’s remove the dam and let Mother Nature do her thing.
Looks like she ordered a hatchery so harvest could begin as soon as possible.

I'd love to fish the Elwha again like I did as a kid, and probably that day will come. As I wait, I'm sure as hell not going to begrudge some other person doing what I wish I could be doing. Especially when that someone is part of a group that was promised the right of taking fish at usual and accustomed grounds and stations.

Seems like letting them fish the Elwha and other places is small potatoes to them letting me fish the rest of the rivers and lakes on the Olympic Peninsula. You may disagree, and that's cool, but I think the U.S. continues to come out ahead when it comes to the Treaty of Point No Point.
