Only downside is it would obviously void the warranty on still covered motors.
Today's modern OB's are pretty bulletproof, however, not much goes wrong with them when fed properly.
My Tohatsu 9.9 is a good example of how OB manufacturers save costs while maximizing profits, as the engine construction is exactly the same for 9,9, 15, or 20 HP, the only difference being the ECU programming and manifold air restriction disc, featuring a small hole in the 9.9 disc, a bigger hole in the 15, none installed in the 20 HP.
I'll get mine done before the start of next year's fishing season.
