and it went surprisingly well. Ran out of orange body hair needed for a project , so I found some light elk, some bleached deer and some deer belly hair in a stash I had gotten from a taxidermist. This was cheap, easy and somewhat fun. It does take a bit of time though. I had previously dyed some feathers and a hares mask and thought this would harder than it turned out.
Here what I did:
Soaked the hair in sem-hot water for an hour.
Mixed Rit dye(tangerine) with water and heated it on a hot plate.
Added the hair and turned it over periodically about an hour.
Rinsed each piece thoroughly with cold water
Soaked up water I could from the hair with a towel.
Ran a hair dryer on it until that was too boring.
Set the hair out in sun to dry.
Hardly ScottP level, but I am pleased and can go back to tying.
