Drift boat anchor recasting

Hi PNWers,
Would anyone out there know a shop between Eugene and Portland or on the Oregon Mid Coast where I could get a pyramid shape lead anchor recast? The marine environment I live in is rusting the eye out big time. For a DIY, any help on how to safely melt and pour about 30 lbs of lead without a major expense? I'm able to build a form. Thanks!

Get an old cast skillet and heat until gray in your gas grill. That should clean it for melting lead.

For a heat source i use a camp chef propane burner. The good will is a great place to find a cheap pot or large uncoated skillet.

Back in my twenties I used to make all kinds of lead weights for gear fishing. My advice is gloves, glasses and keep any liquid out of the room.

And well ventilated…

I used to collect lead in the ocean with scuba gear and used a lift bag to get it to the boat; the majority of them were 8-12 ozs…I melted them into dive weights and sold them to dive shops…

I think it might be more cost effective to drill out the eye making sure you got all of the steel out of the hole and replace it with a stainless-steel eye.
