My 14’ Klamath has post-mounted downriggers on the middle seats. I bought the boat that way. It is kinda annoying because 1. It is a lot of stress on the seat tops resulting in flex that in causes the downriggers to have a lot of play. And 2, perhaps more importantly, the seats are useless and in sunny norcal it is nice to sit under the bimini. Oh and 3, those downrigger mounting posts attract fly line something fierce.
Do any of you have a favorite gunwale mount that is sturdy? I saw a plate on the internet that looks like it would mount on the gunwale on the top and the seat-hull strut as well-anyone used one of those?
