Double the fun

Got my buddy into his first fly caught carp!
He was wondering why I didn't notice him when he said he was hooked up...well, I was also hooked up!
We had a double going and wouldn't you know it, just one net. Mine got tired first so I netted him and then a minute later I netted my buddy's.
I've had bass, trout and even salmon (pinks) doubles, but that was a first for carp. We were laughing. Stupid fun. 😂
Here's about 18 lbs of carp in my net.

My buddy was stoked! He ended up going 2 for 2. He's probably hooked now. 😁

And here's my first fish of the day.

They aren't as big as it looks here. We're both long-arming for the hero shot. Gotta have fun with it!
My BassPro scale kept us both honest. Despite the shoulders and belly in mine it was 10 lb 6oz. His was probably just a bit less. All our fish were 7-10 lbs. We both missed eats on 15+ lb fish.

I went 3 for 5. One came unbuttoned and the other one took me directly into the weeds and broke me off at the 12 to 10 lb blood knot. I'd guess him about 15 lbs. I moved up to 12 looped to 20 after that!

Good times

I like the second photo with the rod completely submerged by is right leg....that is pure fishing IMHO. Any more details on tactics and tackle?
8wt with a floater. I always throw the John Montana Hybrid when on the Columbia. It represents the freshwater clams that these guys eat. Just have to find the ones that are feeding to have a chance. Good luck!

Funny. So did several truckers that honked at us. Haha!
Boy, you weren't kidding about John Day shad being slow. We got blanked! We tried Friday evening for a couple hours and Saturday morning for an hour. NEVER been skunked shad fishing before. The lack of a peak of the run at Bonny and McNary is weird, but it's not like there aren't thousands of fish in the river. Really weird. I had ONE bump. It felt like a shad, but who knows. Some spin casters next to us only had 3 fish in a few hours. We were talking about the epic catch rate of 2 years ago and were just stumped by this year.

We should of spent more of our sunny Saturday morning carpin! Losing the sun that afternoon was a bummer.

How was the bass fishing? We caught a couple at Rock Creek.

I just noticed the rod in the third photo as well...I must say.... I like the way they use their tackle.
Yeah, we don't usually do the rods behind the head shots unless we're just being silly. We also don't usually just throw them in the water, but when it's calf deep and no current you know it will still be there when you're done releasing the fish.
I did hold my rod during the double netting. Haha!

Lots of fish on poppers but nothing big.. just constant action.

Skyriver I must say that the images that you post are simply bursting with joy... (photographers have always pursued this effect)... And also thank you for the tackle info,,, Cheers , Jim

That is freaking awesome! I had a couple shots at steel doubles last winter but couldn't pull it off. It gets tricky with the big ones, well done.
