Doorbell Cameras

Heard another knock this morning around 4:35am. I sleep in the living room around the corner to the front door, phone charged and next to bed. I ordered the Ring doorbell last night, supposed to be here today with the wired connector kit.

Might file a non emergency police report to document this. Be safe!

Definitely report that! Request that LE increase patrols in that area. Be safe.

I found a wired Ring but would not have it until May 20th. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FJJ66YZ1?ref_=MARS_NAVSTRIPE_desktop_ring_doorbell_wired&th=1 My phone is always nearby for the Libre 3 app that I need to look at. My porchlight along with my neighbors is bright LED.
The wired are nice. Ours is powered by the doorbell circuit and operates the chimes inside. Does have a backup battery. The battery ones require removing the battery to charge. We ran our through a remote hallway chime at the old house. There was a long lag time in that setup. We use the battery one as a portable unit now.

We've had wired doorbell Ring cameras for many years. Upgraded to current models because picture clarity and features just kept getting better and better. Reaction time via wifi to phone has considerably improved as well.

We have three wired Ring exterior floodlight cameras, and an interior 'panable' camera in my bike workshop. There's virtually no way to enter the heavily armed 'krusty compound' without triggering one of the Ring systems. Once you have a Ring Multi account there's no additional subscription charges for an unlimited number of devices.

Thinking about acquiring a guard tower and night vision goggles to satisfy my intruder paranoia. Would install USMC tanglefoot, but landscape care might become problematic.

Wife forbids me to customize the Ring doorbell automatic audio response to say "come back when you've got a warrant".

Just waiting on the connector kit, should be here soon. I live in a neighborhood where a lot of County Sheriffs and State Troopers
live. Their offices are close by.

Judy, honestly I'd reach out to those neighbors and tell them what's going on. Also, find the local PD portion of the town /city website and at least file an incident report.

Ditto what @wanderingrichard said.

Please also, do not leave your doors unlocked even when you are expecting those visitors you mentioned.

Never open your door to anyone you don't know. You can always talk through the door. If they refuse to leave, call the Police. If they refuse to leave, that reaches the threshold for a 911 call, period.

Always keep your cell phone within reach.

Stay safe.

i am a pdx guy, now live in the couv. if you need help installng something, let me know. i am handy, and can do most things - but no guarantee. and if you need any trimming of shrubs obscuring the front, i could help with that - though as i write, i gave most landscape tools away when we moved to this house.
let me know.

I have SimpliSafe wired doorbell and wireless cameras on my property. I have not found much practical use for them yet outside of randomly scaring my wife remotely by talking to her as she mucks around in the yard or driveway and sets off a notification for me. Good to know we have them if needed though and she enjoys the security when I travel for work.

Don’t believe a subscription is needed unless you want outside monitoring.

All that said, nothing is better at alerting us to folks on our property than our dogs. They’ll bark 100% of the time before I get a notification from SimpliSafe. Not sure if that’s an option but the best alerter and probably prowler deterrer out there is a good old fashion pup!

Regardless of the brand of the video doorbell, the most critical factor is connecting it via 5G Wi-Fi. Because 2.4G Wi-Fi is so common, it is very easy for criminals to jam, whereas the cost of jamming 5G Wi-Fi is much higher!

I've actually been meaning to pick up a Ring camera, all joking aside! On sale at Amazon. I'll look into the other options as well!

The above link is to a Ring camera on sale at Amazon, but it doesn't display how I intended...

I have both 2.4G and 5G on my modem. Also 3 towers close by within a half mile.

What kind of fly fishing do you prefer?

2g is longer range e.g 500'.
5g is shorter range but is more secure.

Simplisafe is only 2g, at least in my setup.

Check out what your system supports. Use latest version supported.

Personally speaking, I doubt thieves are that smart or equipped.

Two visits a day apart is very concerning. As mentioned, talk to your neighbors and to the police, and let them know you’re in a wheelchair.
DimeBrite mentioned strengthening up your door frames. I’d add to ask a friend to replace the deadbolt receiver screws (probably around 1.5”) with long screws (4”-6”) that reach into solid wood frames. (As recommended by a cop to us.)
