Does Coyote Urine repel rats?

My buddy lived on a small sailboat. A rat had climbed down the dock lines. He poisoned it. Desperate from dehydration, that rat chewed through the bilge pump hose in a desperate attempt to get a drink of water. That rat sunk his boat. I watched the salvage diver throw the dead rat up onto the dock.
Moral of the story...Never use poison to get rid of a rat on your boat!
I'm gonna say that shooting one probably isn't a good option either....for the same reason.

I had a rat on my boat once. Poison is out of the question. A rat can find a very inaccessible place to die, and the body will become a stinky mess. Rat trap. Remove any other food source on the entire boat. Put lots of other morsels of food around the trap..
Put the dead rat and trap in a plastic bag and throw it in the dumpster. Done deal. These traps are cheap, no need to deal with the rat body or disgusting used traps.

Years ago I was tasked with setting a few rat traps at a processing plant. No big deal just a few rat traps, baited with peanut butter. But then a worker brought her dog to work that day. This was a problem.
In short... traps and poison aimed at rats can have unexpected negative consequences.
