Looking to do my own install of a solar powered automatic driveway gate opener. I already have an existing 12' chain' link gate that swings well. Curious if anyone has a recommendation for the brand and if anyone has done this. thx

This is how they do it in west Texas. If you don't get the acceleration and timing just right it'll swing around to fast and grab the rear bumper and rip it off as you go through.

I use a garage door opener for one of my gates. Do you have the room for it to slide?

I've never actually built one, but once years ago I was looking at a property and started designing a system in my head for it if the sale went thru. I ended up not getting the place, but the systems I was looking at was called Mighty Mule:

Sounds like you already have a good swinging gate, you might be able to just use the entry level MM271. But they appear to have a lot of systems available.

Gonna stick with the swinger that I have (don't take that one out of context!) There's a number of manufacturers of hardware out there. I'll probably pick one out based on reviews or recommendations and call their sales line to get the features I want.
