Rod Building Decorative Ribbon Wrap

I'm looking for any information I can get about wrapping ribbon on a fly rod. Where would you find some material.? Any hints on installing it.? This photo is of a 1973 Fenwick. I'd like to incorporate this look into the rods I am building this Winter. Any info. is appreciated...

I just bought three s-glass, creek size blanks. A 7ft 6in, 4#. A 7ft, 3#. Both 4 piece in natural white. And lastly a brown 5-piece, 7ft, 3# for hikers. I'm trying to make these a little less expensive. Just fun, kicking around rods...

The wrap material used to be available wherever rod building materials were found. I don’t think I’ve seen it in thirty years.

Check out fly tying braid...Lots of color combos available. It will lay flat if you pull the core out.
