Decided to stay on the westside this week and try one of my favorite winter lake fisheries for Veteran's Day (Friday). Only a couple of other boats on the water and one shore fisherman, but they all left early, so I had the lake to myself most of the day. Most of the fish were 15 to 16 inchers, but they were in good shape and fought well; here's a typical fish, heavily spotted, as usual:
One time I was writing in my little notepad and my fly was just hanging in the water and all of a sudden I felt my rod being tugged and it turned out to be this nice 22 incher:

The fishing was only good around mid-day for a couple of hours and then the fish went off the bite. I hung around till sunset, hoping the fish would get more active around that time, but nothing picked up, but at least I had a nice sunset to see:
The water temperature was 49 to 50 degrees with about 8' of visibility. No algae was seen. In my experience this lake gets progressively tougher to fish as the weather gets colder and the fish die off, so now is the time to fish the lake, at least until spring when it gets planted again.
