The level of stupidity I have seen driving in the last few weeks has driven me to consider a dash cam. The icing on the cake was last night when a driver attempted a uturn illegally around a cement barrier. They didn't make it. Stopped perfectly perpendicular to oncoming traffic after driving straight into the curb and then almost backed up into me. Essentially putting 4 lanes of traffic into a stand still.

What does everyone utilize for a dash cam? Bonus points if you include a amazon link😁😁😁
 
So, funny story... A few months ago, I helped an acquaintance sell his Subaru, and @Roper ended up buying it. I noticed in one of the photos the dash cam and made a comment about "of course you have a dash cam" (it's a bit of an Eastern European/Slavic stereotype... they actually are required by insurance to have them in that region).

After the car sold, he thanked me by buying me my very own dash cam, which has been awesome. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, nothing worth noting has happened since I installed it.

When you do get one, I highly recommend getting whatever extra kit you need to hardwire it in to your fuse panel. When you do this, you can hide the wires behind the trim, and have it wired so that it turns on and off with the ignition. So I never need to remember to turn it on and off.

This is the one he got me here. As someone who typically doesn't enjoy getting gifts, this was one of the coolest gestures anyone has done for me. Super happy to have one.

I have a rear view outfit(camera/video screen) and would really like to hook it into a dash cam. I'm thinking I could point the rear camera at the video screen showing the rear view?
For clarification, I have the rear camera/video screen as I have a slide in truck camper that obstructs the back view.

So, I have one in the truck and going to put one in the wife car. I have one from Costco it works great and connects to the phone. They had these a couple weeks ago.

They will not save your life, but, it will help you in a law suit or for insurance!
 
I used to have a bumper sticker on my TransAm that read: God is coming and is she pissed! Scowls on the men and women are laughing! Yeah, Russia requires dashcams because their drivers are really bad drivers.

Evan, my wife and I love the car in fact it’s getting new shoes tomorrow. I think the ones that are on it now are the original ones. But as far as the camera system goes, my wife and I are not tech savvy, and I think it would be more of a pain to try and figure it out then to actually use it.
 
I’ve had a Goodts Dash cam since I bought my Tundra. It’s pretty decent with good resolution/functionality. I’ve never used the smartphone function, but I’ve never needed to use the footage either. 30 bucks on Amazon


If I had to do it again I’d use the Wolfbox front/rear rear view camera/mirror. It got super good reviews at SEMA this year.

I’m not mechanical enough to wire mine to the fuse box, so I got an adapter that lets me plug it into the power going to the rear view mirror.
