I'm down to my last therapist, the one for speaking, and she had a full recheck on how I'm doing. She has to move her message onto the doctor. From my therapist I should be close to finish with my final therapist. All my doctors, which i will never not have appointments by them, have really made appointments a lot farther out apart. All are 6mo to a year apart now. They are about as low apart as they will get. And thankfully only 3 doctors i have to see (and could possibly down to 2 depending on next appointment in 2 months). I will be seeing the Psych/DR. I see him after every my therapist. He's been really happy with how I'm doing.

I do have problem with my speaking, but therapist is as about as far as they can do at this point. It's me continue working with what she's taught me. I'll see a few more appointments with her and go from there.

That's what i have for now.

Not your situation but....On the speaking when patients get new oral appliances especially full dentures we have them read a book out loud as clearly as possible like speaking to a crowd so you have to project. This is done in front of a mirror so you can watch your lips move and facial expression. It really helps the muscular proprioception. Maybe it will help?

Congratulations Jerry, I'm really glad to hear that you've made so much progress! Keep up the strong work, we're all here rooting for you. If you need support let us know!

That's not my problem. It's my brain wired wrong. Wish that was that easy. My brain either won't let me talk or has me send the wrong word, though I swear I'm saying the correct one. They're trying to help me use my brain to find a difference direction to find same word. Why doctors are amazed i can talk like I do having 2 strokes. Unfortunately the stroke killed off parts of my brain. Hence being too retreating how my brain ways to find to talk. Weird I can write it right here, but if I try to talk same thing my brain doesn't let me talk it.

I'm hoping that your brain rewires around the damaged parts and you continue to improve! Your writing seems like it's getting better and better over time.

I'm getting better, but was told it'll take time. As in years. Talking on phone are some of the worse. Not sure why. I think since I need to look at people while they talk. Not sure why unless it's my way of locking in on that person and know they are actually Talking. On a phone my brain starts hurting on me and I start locking down to be alone to myself. Last couple of people called me on phone I was stuttering worse. Add to it i couldn't figure out what I was saying or hearing.

The swap will be a really big try to talk for me.

Keep moving forward and staying positive Jerry! I hope to see you sometime in the near future when you and Tiffany want some company! Cheers and Best fishes my friend!

Keep the spirit and keep fighting! I like the idea of fly tying in general. I'm new to tube flys. Tube fly method is opening a new possibilities and reigniting tying interest for me.

It is great to read of your progress and motivation, Jerry!

Have you heard of the book by Norman Doidge, M.D., “The Brain that Changes Itself ”?
It is about the brain’s ability to “re-wire” itself, also called neuroplasticity.

When parts of the brain are damaged by stroke, or other reasons, healthy parts of the brain may learn to take over lost function.

Chapter 1 describes several different situations, including a person who recovers from a stroke. Chapter 5 is totally about stroke recovery.

Thanks for inspiring hope as you recover!
