I arrived at Crane Prairie on Memorial Day expecting to find a full campground. Seeing all the RV traffic headed down Hwy58 while I was driving up should have tipped me off. The Crane Prairie Campground was mostly empty. I had a campsite reserved. There were three campsites below mine occupied and the one next to me taken by a young couple, but they were gone Tuesday morning.
I like to beach my drifter just north of my campsite which is seldom shared by another boat and reduces the distance to where I like to fish.
Tuesday brought only two long distance releases, but my first day usually is more about finding what works.
Wednesday I landed my best Cranebow of the trip.
That big tail took me on 6 line screaming runs!
