Counting our blessings after a slow day on the lake

Freestone and I are having our annual birthday bash as our birthdays are only 5 days apart. The usual massive steaks and rich desserts are a given but this year the heat has curtailed our usual lake fishing activities. On Sunday we went to a relatively high elevation lake in hopes of finding some cooler weather and perhaps some tiger trout. Fishing was in the doldrums but we had some positive takeaways:

We were on the water
We both caught fish
It was cool outside
We had the lake to ourselves
There was no smoke
It beat the hell out of watching TV
We fished until dark and had a glorious sunset
There was triple chocolate cake with fudge frosting, vanilla bean ice cream and hot fudge topping waiting for us back at the ranch

Not a bad day really

Thank you from both of us for the birthday greetings! I'm headed out for a get together with former co-workers for a few days. Since it is at a lake and there may be mosquitoes, Freestone and I made a bug net for the back of the Casa. It's just a prototype, but with the predicted hot temps, it will be nice to be able to leave the rear hatch open. Freestone is wisely headed off to someplace with cooler temps.
