Cougars vs Wolves

I'm far more scared of cougars than bears, around the Seattle area.

The year I moved here, a couple of mountain bikers got taken out by cougars. In the follow year, I believe it happened again. That stuck with me. I haven't heard of a single bear attack.
 
I wanted to say something on that last wolf thread but it got locked up. Shit. I forgot what I wanted to say. I'll have to rethink on it again. It's funny how a brain works. You can think on something and then go to something else and then forget about what you were thinking on in the first place.

Things might slip out of place but I never forget where I caught fish at. That memory is firmly planted in my brain. I started fishing at about 12 years of age. When the family lived in West Park. North of Bremerton. I started in a small creek with a hand line. I didn't get a rod until a few years later.

Its definitely cougars that give me the heebiest jeebies out in the woods. You dont hear about a ton of cougar attacks, but people go missing in the woods all the time and Cougars hide their kills and dont generally take on a fight they cant immediately win.

I found a cougar kill years ago just north of Vantage up on top of the bluff. I was looking for petrified wood. There is nothing up there plant wise and I came upon a cluster of sage that stood out and thought it's the perfect place to hide something there was a deer skeleton in the middle of the brush with a few sticks on it. I've seen black bear up there too. Very weird as it is so barren. Found a huge petrified tree trunk, which really surprise me. Wonder how long that was there... like from back when there was a forest there? I used to do stumble arounds in the early spring, never know what you might find.
