Cortland line

I feel the narrower sylk cast better in the wind and is limper. The peach I had was a good all around line, probably floated better in some rougher water, but I ruined it. I never noticed what the taper difference amounted to when fishing. I like cortland, by far the majority of my lines are this brand.

the Sylk is a fantastic line for all around trout use. I could never get more than a couple of seasons out of it, but still, I always though it was worth the money (IMO, a couple of years for a standard trout line is pretty good....especially if you're fishing trout all the time with it).

I suspect everyone has their own idea about what is best, but here is my 2 cents:
I always use DT for my Bamboo rods. I use Sylk on my 5wt and standard 444 on my 7 wt as 6 is the largest you can get in Sylk
Both lines work fine and I suspect that other DT brands would be ok too, but that is what I have used almost forever and am too lazy to experiment

I'm a cortland sylk or 406 fan with bamboo. I also like the Wulff bamboo triangle taper line. Never took to the peach line I owned.

Bring your rod to our June bamboo cast around. I'll have some 406 and sylk lines as well as a cortland spring creek line you can try with the 9050.

Thanks everyone for your advise and input. I ordered up a sylk today. Dave I can't make the cast around / fling this year but maybe next year, thanks for the invite. Everyone has been very welcoming on the forum and that's a good thing.

I thought it might be fun to mention this, if for no other reason than its an oddity. Several years ago the Hook & Hackle company was selling Cortland 444 peach lines that they had dyed a kind of amber color. Even though I liked the way they cast on my bamboo, I always hated that bright peach color so I bought two of them. I don't think I ever fished them because about the same time I started fishing real silk. Anyway, I found both lines in my closet today, one spooled around a cardboard tube and the other spooled on a 1495 Medalist. I tossed the boxes years ago and didn't label them, unfortunately. I think one is a 4wt and the other a 5wt. Weird.

Cliff your doing better than I am I have several in storage that I have no idea of the brand, model or wieght. Got the new Slyk today and lawn cast it think its going to be a winner.
