College Football 2024

Somewhere that plays a system he knows and is also a contender in their conference. He would go to a place that hasn’t won if they have a new staff with a history of winning.

He never wanted to be in the portal. He loved where he was! He got injured during spring ball (junior year), tried to rehab, ended up having surgery, staff turned over and they revoked his scholarship the day after surgery.

I know there is a negative perception of today’s collegiate athletes…there are some who have earned that label. There are also lots of athletes that are treated poorly. Unfortunately college football and basketball are businesses now and the employees (athletes) are disposable.
Hope he finds a good landing spot!!!

Wow, a real Defensive Football game! So tired of lack of defense ANA (shoot outs)! Go Lions. Honestly the real Championship game is tomorrow's rematch between the 0s!

Penn St. had a great defensive game plan, and executed it with big, strong, and skilled players. Well done.

I thought BSU would have played with a little more urgency in the last 3 minutes. Looked like they were resigned to defeat and giving their running back some carries so he could break 100 yds. rushing. Indiana scored 14 points in a 1:03, so I thought BSU would give it a go.

So what was the attendance at this fiesta bowl?

Saw the crowd at Alabama vs Michigan (not a CFP game but still a two power team bowl game and it was dismal). This is end of 1st qtr supposedly.

Pieced watched the PSU vs BSU game but they seem to make an effort not to show the whole stadium or did I simply miss it? The bowl games are dying… transfer portal is killing them and having all these playoff games at different bowl games is ridiculous….. imho.

Any ways. Happy new year. See how the crowds are tomorrow. And the next week. And the week after that. 🤣

The Olympics changed when it allowed professionals.

NCAA made the same mistake, going professional. Not the same way tho.

When politics, greed and money replaces values, aspirations, goals and dreams ---> not good.

No way going back unfortunately.

Yeah, there is just too much football and the season is too long and the games are meaningless and boring and teams with .500 records are in bowl games and coaches have quit the team that got them there and players have abandoned their teammates when needed most and...........................

The football market is just over saturated with NIL and the transfer portal diluting the product and confusing the customers-the fans. Hard to make sense of teams like Cal and Stanford being in the ACC. Just for the record, ACC stands for Atlantic Coast Conference, both Cal and Stanford are within spitting distance of the Pacific Ocean. It makes little sense and is hard to relate to. I have been aware of football since Johnny Lujack won 3 National Championships back in the mid 40's and have seen the entire history of football television. But now my interest has really waned and I find it difficult to watch a complete game anymore. Contrast that to the excitement of the Jets beating the Colts in 1969, an edge-of-your-seat game that was a thriller or some of the great Pac 10 matchups vs the Big 10 over the years. It just ain't the same and I think the apathy will increase.

Today's winners: Texas, Ohio State and Notre Dame. I would like to be wrong on all three but suspect that I will be right. Texas is too strong to lose to Arizona, Oregon has little chance to beat Ohio State twice in one season and Georgia is crippled with injuries and player dropout crap. By now even the players realize that bowl games are just revenue generating exhibition games and so numerous to be even taken seriously. I miss the day when there were only 7 bowl games, nowadays there can be almost that many in a single day. The tail is wagging the dog.

It’s going to take some time but it will get sorted out…big transitions are always painful and somewhat ugly.

College football has had two major issues for decades…billions and billions of dollars being generated by people who didn’t get any of it and a “crowning” system for determining a champion.

Seems to me that the best thing about most of these college Bowl Games are these Saban/Vrbo commercials.....
Too bad ASU has no kicking game…this thing is 17-15 at the half if they could kick a 30-40 yard FG🤬
ASU looks to be completely outclassed.

Coach: I can see your point to a degree. Unfortunately Corporate Greed has never entered and will never enter the "Share Market". It is my opinion that NIL has the opposite effect that sends funds to a few elite schools while the majority suffer. I.E. WSU!

The bottom tier has and always will be the bottom tier….BTW I’m a life long Cougar fan. Football players make football. I don’t tune in to watch administrators or coaches. I’m happy to see them getting a piece of the pie. I don’t believe the new way is the best way but the ball is finally rolling.
