It will be interesting to see where Penix lands in the NFL. He certainly has NFL level talent with his arm. His injury history may scare some teams away, though he’s been pretty much injury free for the past few years.
It was interesting to see him run last night, which was a big part of his game before his injuries at Indiana.

Yes I would, it's part of being on a team. If Utah State gave me an opportunity to play for the team, I would feel an obligation to finish the season and support my teammates.
Say what you want about Russell Wilson, but after he was benched, he was on the sidelines with his helmet and wrist band on fully engaged on what was happening with the game. Character and integrity are becoming a thing of the past.
He'll have to use less side arm. Pro defenses will key in on that.
And greeting the players as they came off the field.

Current mock drafts have him as an early to mid round 2 pick. So he is available to every team if they want him sooner. If the Huskies win next week because of Penix, he will be a top 10 pick IMO.

In fact, it's likely to get worse.
A 12 team playoff isn't going to fix anything, probably just more teams left out. More players not playing. No player, in the transfer portal or not, who is banking on getting NIL coin is going to risk it for a playoff game. The NFL draft bound guys definitely won't, after all they will have been getting paid for years already with NIL money.
TV runs college football now, really more like owns it. People watched the games, sponsors cut the checks, advertisers bought the ads.

) . I just can't see too many kids wanting to sit out those playoff games....my prediction is that it'll be quite the opposite. The rest of the bowl games? a completely different story...Of course teams are gonna be left out. Not every NFL team makes the playoffs either. At least with 12, it's a little more equitable than with 4. The bottom half of that 12 is not really going to have a realistic shot anyway (outside of the weird outlier here and there).

Might be Ohio State who would have been in a final 12 scenario. Kyle McCord (QB) was leaving OSU regardless and may have bailed on them to enter the transfer portal…. Knowing Coach Day didn’t have his back.

As always this thread turns into NIL, Conference realignment, college football is doomed... Not a chance, Debbi Downers, UW lost to Montana a couple seasons ago and is now preparing to play in the Natty. The SEC was doing business while everyone else was hamstrung by rules and regs, now it's legal and we saw overnight what a difference it made for the P12! Saban and the SEC aren't stacking 5* athletes like cordwood anymore, this will level the playing field out and give guys a chance to play immediately and stay in college longer to improve their draft stock. I love it!
Like Stoney mentioned, this season has taken years off my life but well worth it! The Dawgs have another chance to add another National Title to the case against a really good Michigan team. It's an Old timey P10 vs B10 matchup. I have alot of respect for Michigan, very storied program with a long history.
UW has been letting every single team in the game, but finds a way to close it out, just amazing!

Agreed. There was an elusive level of purity in college football that will soon be lost with the current path forward. Those of us who played and as fans were captivated will be the lesser as a result. Kinda like when steelhead go away.
2023 was ''The Year Of Getting It Wrong'' as far as officiating is concerned. With the beginning of baseball season it was obvious that it was going to be the same old same old as umpires were a year older and a year more blind than the previous year. I had MLB on Direct TV and watched a lotta baseball and on a daily basis saw some truly horrible calls. Baseball has the means to correct most of those calls if the use Robo Umps at home plate and replay for everything else. But sadly there is no mechanism currently to remove a bad ump and no penalty for botched decisions. Hence Angel Hernandez. On several occasions I saw wrong decisions cost a team a game which can make a big difference in a pennant race. MLB admits that last season umpires missed over 21,000 strike calls-an error rate of 12-15%. On the plus side of that baseball plays 9X as many games as the NFL so there is some chance to overcome a bad call.
But in football a bad call like the Brad Allen crew made in the Lions/Cowboys game can cost a team home field advantage or even eliminate some team from the playoffs completely. It was the 3rd major bad call for that crew this year and that should be enough to sit those guys down and let another crew try to get it right. Instead there is no discipline for those guys and they will be back on the job in week 18. Mercifully they have been downgraded and won't do any playoff games but in all fairness should be suspended. The Angel Hernandez syndrome.
Perhaps the NFL should use some of that $64,000,000 a year they are paying Goodell a year to sit on his hands to actually train some full time refs. For what Goodell makes a year you could pay the 121 NFL refs about $525K a year, a living wage in the USA. Get some younger guys with good vision, pay them well and make them go to training camp just like the players do. Refs now make about $12,000 per game but they never get fined for their mistakes. That should change, those guys that screwed up the Detroit game should all have to forfeit their pay and take a class on remedial officiating. Plus a suspension.
