Classic reels

Damn, I love all of the JW Youngs! I'll have to get a pic up of my workmanlike Beaudex at some point.

Been awhile since I last posted on this thread.
Thanks to Steve, and this classic reel discussion for opening my brain to other fly reel possibilities.
I recently purchased a WALKER BAMPTON/DINGLEY MADE 3" PATTERN 1 TROUT FLY REEL from eBay.
Tuesday this reel is going fishing despite all of the complaining my Hardy reels are making.

Found a nice spot yesterday with Bambooflyguy. Fished about 9 hours with the Dingley.
Think I found my new favorite reel.
C&R 30 rainbows and 1 brown. Sort of forced one rainbow to make a run just to hear the old Dingley sing a couple bars of "YaHoo".
Best part of the entire day however, was we never stopped talking for more than a couple minutes.
What a Hoot it was to share our time on the water.
Oh, according Bambooflyguy, catching one more brown constitutes a win even though I caught more rainbows.
Hmmm... I might need an attorney.

Good to hear the Dingley suits you. I know I like them, great reels!

Here’s a few of my favorites from my collection. a Hardy St George 3 3/8 with the agate line guard, 1492 pre war medalist, a Pridex with the original box and a Pebeco 4. The Pebeco 4 is a Swedish reel made by Record in the 40s-60s that was sold to Pebeco, which apparently makes it quite rare. It’s probably the most solid and smooth feeling reel out of my collection.

I replaced the knob since it had a gash on it. There's a guy on ebay (mikesreel) that sells an item called "Black Handle Kit for Fly Reels - LARGE" for $9.95 + $8 shipping. It takes a while since he's in Canada. It's definitely large, but I like it on 4" or bigger reel. It's solid and easy to install.
