Christmas Island Oct 25

I saw the post about a group heading to Christmas Island this winter and I realized I never wrote a trip report for my trip in Oct of 2025. Big thanks to @DimeBrite for fly selection help!

Had a great time very few anglers there during our stay counted only 12 that came in with us. Me and my fishing buddy only anglers at our lodge.

Christmas Island lodge fishing program was three days fishing lagoon one day back country one day Korean Wreck. Day 6 you choose we did a second day at the wreck,

Had legit shots at 4 good size GT hooked one but it came unbuttoned when I took a wave in the face and ate shit at the wreck. Reef edge is slippery! Landed several small GTs though that were good fun.

One of my baby GT super fun on a 8wt

Lots of shots at bonefish. Landed a couple good ones each day.

When bonefish were hard to see there were triggers to hunt. I spooked at least 50 of them. Had only two eats first one ran right to coral and broke me off second one I hooked in just the right area and was able to land.

Titan trigger aka mustache

By far my favorite days was at Korean wreck it was like a fish bowl the contrast of red bottom with the green back bonefish and all the other fish to cast at wrasse, emperor, big blue fins was just a lot of fun I could fish that for 6 days and be super happy.

Had a great time. I’m going to head back this October for another week with different outfitter.

Congrats on a fun trip with some memorable catches! Great that you will be returning this fall. Well done to catch the nice titan triggerfish, bones, bluefin, wrasse, etc. I agree that Korean Wreck is a blast, those big GTs are hard to land in the heavy surf zone. Next trip you'll land a big one!
