Chopaka intel - report

Life of the Party
Hi fellas -
since I retired earlier this year, I find myself not a computer as much as I thought - including interacting on this awesome Forum.
all is excellent in my world and I am fully enjoying the retirement segment of my life.

Onto my post: I am planning to hit Chopaka next week for a few days and was wondering if anyone has any recent intel. I know it has been hot and I understand the water levels are low, but I am leaning pretty hard to still go. I am going to contact the Loomis General store and look at the DNR/BLM sites as well.

feel free to share with everyone via a reply or PM me.

thanks-dp

And Dave will not share any info either...

Just because....

No word, Dave. Good luck, enjoy the lake and scenery. It'll be the second week of October before I'm headin' north to fish.

short report because it was too hot - like everyone pretty much already knew.
pulled in Tuesday before noon. only 3 people there, including me and my buddy.
fished the afternoon and caught one fish. so did my buddy.
strategized over dinner and while watching the stars - fish early and be done by noon. don't fish the afternoon.
had breakfast and on the water. we each landed 2 fish and missed a few.
the lake had a large algae bloom occurring and the water level was down - I'd say by 10 feet.
weeds were bad on the north end.
came into camp and decided to head out. the fishing wasn't going to get better, it was hot and the lake was really off colored.
saw 108 degrees in Omak.
we were pretty sure it was going to be really hot, but did not expect the algae bloom.
still, not a bad place to spend the night in a beautiful environment.
I have no regrets.
