Interesting I may try that vinyl paint thank you! Then again maybe I’m caring too much. After I finished this batch I thought, you know since these have a high loss chance I should stick to natural fibers like marabou, bunny and Schlappen. My next round with be only with that.Nail polish is likely the easiest route.
For new, unpainted jig heads, the best paint is vinyl paint. You’ll likely lose the jig long before it chips. Much more durable than baked powder coating in my opinion.
It takes longer to paint them due to the three step process. White base coat, color then a clear coat. You can thin the base coat and color out for easier application.
The reality is though, the fish don’t really give a shit how your jig looks, they’ll still bite it.
If you tie a killer jig though, I understand it’s nice to have it look good for as long as possible.

I’m going to try some shrink tubing and see how that looks/works. But I feel like what you and SF are saying is the truth, they don’t really care about the head color. It’s more for meI like your jigs a lot, those are fish catchers. I totally understand the aesthetic of the painted head. If you can figure out how to make it stay looking sharp let me know. I just gave up.
