These cattle trails are deceptive; you think you're on the trail to the lake only to find a branch in the trail, then another and another.....



It's better to use landmarks than cattle trails to find your way.

this guy or gal rarely comes out of their hide (so it's always a treat), which happens to be a mini T-Rex skull...


And of course Hoggy is always curious. I'm sure that she'll be happier (if sneks feel emotion--unlikely) once I move her into her forever home with a bunch of dirt to dig in....

I had a somewhat similar experience. Just more exciting.

Finishing my bike ride to Coulee City and back to the state park into a strong wind. Head down and tired. Then out of nowhere, a large rattlesnake 5' right in front of me. Legs up and into the sage brush. Whew!

"forks"? Greywolf/Dungeness? Such a great picture, sure takes me back. I had a close (too close) encounter with Devil's Club up there when I was a wee one.
