I like the plains, too....wouldn't wanna live there...but love to go there and 'just be' for a while. My wife and I spent a week at Teddy Roosevelt NP in early June. It took her a few days but she finally started to understand the draw.

It was really thought provoking for me…..sitting on one of the foundation blocks to Roosevelt’s front porch…..having lunch where a future president drank a cup o’ Joe and watched the muddy li’l Mo flow by.

I can’t seem to get away from turtles since the beginning of spring. I’ve posted a bunch of photos of them on here, and I’ve been seeing different varieties regularly in all my travels from coast to coast. It’s been a little weird.
This first one was pretty good size, maybe 16” front to back. Biggest one was the snapping turtle we came across in Rhode Island that I posted last month. The strangest location I’ve ever seen one though was a few years ago way up the St. Joe River in a pool between sets of rapids in Idaho.

Lavender hyssop planted at edge of alley garden to attract bees…those fuzzy bumblebees for pollinators. Queen Annes Lace aka rain flower. A plant that comes on in late July and has been an extremely challenging subject to paint. I think I have the patience and “chops” to do one now that I am decrepid but can still wield brushes
