8 o'clock CAPR are fun.....in a weird hard to see, hard to stalk, kind of way.

Great pics! I remember you mentioning the challenge of stalking caprs when it's cloudy. Huh! And now you're doing it in low light with the sun flat on the horizon. Good on you!! More, please. (Too smokey here to even think about chasin' caprs.)
It's starting to burn off. Good to have the lights turn on....
That's about it. I used to see a lot more fish around this time of year even if they're spooky as hell. I suspect that this area getting pounded day in and day out by local guides probably doesn't help. Too bad too because it used to be a fantastic walk-in option.
It might just be the day..........? Maybe? I fished a local water seven days after the end of a carp tournament where 30 anglers POUNDED the lake. I was simply astonished to find more than 200 visible fish, many of them milling around. Milling Arounders sometimes eat, but the actively feeding fish were pretty aggressive to the fly. I don't get it. @Northern meets me and we fish the same water and spot zip. Caprs, who knows? Glad you got out and thanks for the great pictures.

I spent many years working with fisheries scientists on assorted projects and I think with only one exception, they all dissed (distained?) caprs. Me? I get a huge charge of joy when I'm able to fool one. They PULL hard.
When I heard about Peach Beach RV park opening next door to Maryhill State Park I thought "I wonder how many carp skeletons are still there."
We threw nearly every one we snagged in the 80s up into the bushes there. And we snagged a LOT. 
Yea they do! I used to target em in really skinny water in NV when we lived there. The visual part of it is dang cool! From take, hook set and about 15 seconds of fight, I was stoked….then I always wished for an LDR
. They are like the tractor of the fish world. I prefer more of a sports car if you will.I’m glad there’s a niche for em in the fly fishing world though, cuz man they are everywhere!

True, that's how many of them fight. In the past couple of years, I have hooked enough that were like a high torque sports car to keep me going back. I do love the spot, and stalk. The ones we chased in NV were super tough….they would bolt with any mistake. Similar to archery hunting black tails
