Camping/Fishing Rigs and Routines

We had a Tundra where we built a sleeping platform in the bed which work well for shorter trips like the one below to the Klick.

Then I had a AEV Rubicon with an Ursa Minor pop-up that worked even better and could go most anywhere as it's small and fast to set up.

The Jeep is gone now, sold to a cool younger enthusiast down in OR. I got lazy and just bought a house by the river instead. Looking at those photos does make me sad and makes me feel the pull of the road a bit.

I still have a Jeep problem...and I feel your pain...

LOL.

What I didn't admit in the photos of my 2017 was that it was #2 of three white Rubicons. It was preceded by an older manual and followed by a 2020 JLU. My wife is petty sure I'm insane as I bitch about them when I do have one and I bitch about not having one when I don't.

It's taking all my willpower right now to not go out and spend too much money on a Gladiator Mohave.

I currently have a 2014 AEV Brute Doublecab with a 5.7 hemi, 2016 JKU icut down to 110” wb 2door with a 6.2 Hellcat, and a ‘68 Bronco with a 5.0 Coyote…a couple weeks ago I put down a deposit on a 392 JLU…

Just a tip for you guys putting a wheel on your trailer tongue. Shop around and buy one that has dual wheels, the single wheel often digs in to anything soft, the double wheel models are much easier to push around.
Just getting mine so I can lower the tailgate on the truck. All of my parking area is gravel - everything digs in. Fotunately my boat is light enough I can pick up the tongue and swing it around. :)

To add to Ive's advice get wheels with quality bearings for both turning and starting. To start the movement is a lot easier with great bearings where weight is involved... Found out the hard way moving my hot rod in the garage...

1644295654058.jpegHere’s my little A-frame pop-up toy hauler. We love this thing has a deck on the front to haul dirt bikes or an atv, Solar panels, heat pump. Racks on the roof when collapsed so you can load kayaks or bikes. Other than that we usually set up a pop up for a cook station.

Here's my new rig I picked up yesterday. Been looking for a lightweight tent trailer or tear drop for a while but haven't liked the prices I was finding. A random Facebook message to someone who had made a passing comment over a year ago about considering selling their trailer in an owners group for these things netted me this at below market value. I'm off the ground!

Yeah WW, dig it. Having a hard shell is a bit more comfortable when in bear country.

This is my third year with the 2285. This year I have two mods at the top of the list: mount both satellite internet and tv on the roof.

The tv is pretty easy. For internet, I'd have to purchase new hardware and it is a small fortune. But as much time as I spend in the camper I'm thinking it is worth it and would make set up soooo much easier.
