Calling on the knowledge of the group regarding the Burns, Oregon area

Many moons ago, Mann Lake was the best bet during the spring for the big cutts but I'm not sure there's any water remaining in the lake. You might ask around. At one time it was one of the best "secret lakes" in Oregon.

Not far from Burns is Chickahominy Reservoir and if the drought didn't take it out, very large rainbow can be caught with flies while wading.

For decades, our gang would make an annual Spring time trip was made to Mann and Chic.... some where banner trips, some were just cold and windy.

Again, time may have messed up both fisheries but worth considering.

(I'm not hot spotting the fisheries because by now, they are very well known and no longer "secret". Mann was very popular for fly anglers in Boise. Chic is a stones throw from the hwy between Bend and Burns so not difficult to reach.)

Unfortunately both Chic and Mann were both bone dry last summer, let's hope for a strong midwinter and spring snow accumulation in our watersheds.

The hotel was clean but nostalgic but the rooms were basically a bed and a night stand, but the dinners are very good and worth the $$$. Fishing was excellent in the already mentioned locations above .

The Harney County Area is getting good snow fall so far but we need a bunch more before Chick or Mann can recover. I hope Chick refills someday, that was an ugly high desert reservior but when it holds water those 'bows are big and fiesty. We need some massive above average snow levels in , back to back years before it can recover. I hope it isn't lost forever.
