Buying a Vacuum Cleaner....

OMG! The prices! I bought a Shark Navigator when they first came out at Walmart for $99. Well, after all these years, 2 kitty cats (one medium hair calico female and one long haired neutered male black tabby), long hair on myself, I think I finally killed it. I have been vacuuming up orchard hay for my current little baby and I think that is what did it. I hear an escape of air when I turn on the roller floor unit and am tired of cutting hair and what not off the brushes. Living in an older building with carpet and baseboard heat, there is a lot of dirt and dust to eliminate (cough, cough) and help the allergies. Need something that can reach the ceiling for the dust and bugs that are seeking refuge. Especially that little black furry spider that has been alluding me. I had checked the original site of Shark/Ninja. Holy Cow Patties! $499.00, Walmart @ $399.00....

I think you overspent Judy but i have not checked prices lately. Im on my 3rd shark i believe and i think ill be trying another next

Our Dyson just keeps plugging along.
Got it from a person who said it was too powerful for her carpets, 50 bucks.

Not many vacuums can reach under a sofa or a ceiling/ceiling fan unless in the upper echelons of the expensive models. No Roombas, cannot reach the ceilings and it looks too much like the Las Vegas Allegiant Stadium.

I bought a Mele (sp) over 10 years ago, and it was $800 then. But I expect it to outlast me.
This one better outlast me, too. Will pass it along to my daughter in my will.

Top of the line Miele cannister, probably 10-15 yrs ago for us too fom a sewing machine dealer. It was #1 in Consumer reports at the time.

Recently it started shutting down and an authorized (sales &) repair center fix didn't work. They offered to credit the repair cost that was 30%(!) of a new unit towards the purchase of another one.

It is still #1 in Consumer Reports and all the accessories we had fit so we pulled the trigger again.
