A couple from today’s hike. So many others were out, but wouldn’t cooperate.
A ridge line trail system outside of Oakridge, OR.Nice images! Where were you hiking? The top one looks like an Oregon silverspot.
I wondered where you were hiking when looking at many of the pics you've posted - Oakridge area? Beautiful country!A ridge line trail system outside of Oakridge, OR.
Same butterfly as Coach's post above, a California Tortoiseshell.Been several of these fat ones on the deck today but they fly off every time I get close, and sure reluctant to show that inner color.

I'm glad to know their names! As much as I enjoy seeing and photographing them, I haven't taken the time to figure out what they are...thanks! Do you know what the yellow one is?Same butterfly as Coach's post above, a California Tortoiseshell.
It's definitely one of the sulphur butterfly species. It's a little hard to tell without seeing the topside - but there does look to be some black edging so I would go with clouded sulphur.I'm glad to know their names! I think I might have one topside shot. Of one that was stuck on the water, I’ll check. Thanks! It's definitely one of the sulphur butterfly species. It's a little hard to tell without seeing the topside - but there does look to be some black edging so I would go with clouded sulphur.
