Browns

Wish I had landed and had a photo of a big brown I hooked in one of our desert lakes 30+ years ago. I generally fish browns in lakes at night when I know they are there. This one was on beautiful bluebird afternoon in late Spring. I was spot fishing from the bank with a generic spent spinner fly that I'd toss out infront of a cruising rainbow over the shallows. A hooked fish would go bonefish crazy to the deeper water.

At some point I left the spinner pattern next to some cattails while I was looking around when I saw a pair of yellow jaws tip up and take the fly, barely breaking the surface. I softly set the hook and all hell broke loose. Before I could really question myself if that could be really be a brown it skyrocketed out of the water and then peeled line before it broke off. I have caught quite a few coho in my times so sizing fish is something I am confident in.

That Brown trout was 8lbs and no less! Incredibly shocking and an experience I'll never forget.

Some beautiful browns from @Triploidjunkie and others !
