British Columbia

I'm a fan of the area between Merritt and Kamloops (lake). A ton of good lakes to fish, and not as far of a drive. There's a few well known lakes in that area that produce regularly, and quite a few other lakes that can be hit or miss.

With so many forest fires in BC the last few years and the normal winter kill, fishing can definitely change year to year.

Any idea how old that is?
Sam Deane is listed as the operator at Meadow Lake, so that info would be from the late 1960s.

If you are looking to stay at a lodge off Hwy 24, I recommend Meadow Lakes. I have also been to Thuya (now Rustic Resort), but that was 30 years ago...they had some fun lakes within 30 minutes of the camp. I have not been to Rock Island yet, but I have heard good things about the owners. Star Lake and Tuloon are both out of business. If you are taking your own boat up then I'd look into Sheridan.

There is a TON of info on the internet if you look for it. A bunch of lakes between Merritt and hwy 24 that offer everything from paved roads to goat trails to get to and resorts to rec sites to stay in. The Freshwater Fisheries Society of B.C. plants over 800 lakes in bc and has published info on the web, I would start there.
