Boston Whaler 17 Montauk

I really enjoyed our visit. This boat is going to get a lot of love! The only downside is I haven't figured out a way to shoehorn both boats into the shop yet...

Wait, aren’t you the guy with that cool Tiderunner boat? So now you have two kick-ass Puget Sound fishing boats?

Congrats!πŸ˜ƒ

When you pass the other one on I trust you will give someone here the same kind of deal you found. And your traveling partner is considerably more svelte than I had expected from photos I have seen. Good job my friend.πŸ‘πŸ‘

Yes, the Tiderunner is going to have to find a new home. Lots of blood sweat and tears in the Tiderunner that will be a tough one to let go of for sure.

What’s on the next boat agenda if you don’t mind sharing?

I really miss my skiff in the Keys so I attempted to get kind of a PNW equivalent. Can't have the flat bottom of a tarpon skiff in these waters and a draft of 8 inches is not essential here so I am having a Lund 1650 Angler rigged with a 50 HP Merc, side console, with a Power Pole and a GPS enabled bow mount trolling motor with spot lock etc. She should be a really comfortable boat and easy to launch and retrieve for an old fart who most often has to fish alone on the waters close to PA and down on the canal. Want to go for a ride?

That will be a great craft for this area.
When the timing works out, I’m always up for a boat ride.
Congrats on the new craft.

Was great meeting you today @albula ! I'm glad I jumped in to ride along.

I couldn't possibly be more stoked for Jon. This boat will be absolutely perfect for him. Many, many Puget Sound fish will be fooled from that vessel. I'm looking forward to catching a few myself. The bow on his new boat will be so much more comfortable for me ;)

Jon worked hard on his old boat, not only to fix its many issues, but learning to launch/retrieve, how to drive it in various conditions, how to find fish etc etc. It's been cool watching his journey. I feel like this purchase is almost a reward for all of his effort. Couldn't have gone to a better guy.
I think your new Lund is gonna be a great boat for your needs!

Not much better than a new boat purchase:)

So glad this was posted while I was on a fishing trip!

Fished with @albula a few times in the keys and if I know one thing its that he keeps his gear nice. I imagine this whaler is about as clean as it can be.

Can you share a few images of the lund... I've been considering a smaller vessel for bays near sequim and seems like you've got all the goodies ironed out.

I will pick it up in a couple weeks. The Power Pole had to come from Florida hence a shipping and installation delay. When It gets on the water here you are welcome to see it in person. There are no pictures of it rigged at this time.

And there went what little remained of my already limited credibility around here.

I spear fished from this exact Montauk platform in HI for a few years...it's a great little boat...

I have memories of fishing and playing off a Montauk. Even camped with my wife in the San Juans off a Montauk. Actually surprised she didn't divorce me after that.

Would it help if I mentioned that the reason your boats are so clean is that you make the guests clean them each day? :ROFLMAO:

Spent many years coaching sailing out of one of these in SF Bay and boy are they tough. We absolutely trashed them running around in short steep chop and the boat just took it. Wish I could say the same for my back and knees...
