I picked up a cheap no-name "Naviskin" bimini top from Amazon to put on my little Bass Tracker Classic boat. Mostly for the wife to read under if she joins me or so I can anchor up and work in the shade from a cell connection once in a while. The hardware it comes with is cheapo nylon. And while I'm sure they are fine, but I was thinking about replacing with some better fittings from the jump.
Lots of people seem to like this style of stainless mounts. They have a nice locking pin that is still quick to remove. But, like the stock plastic ones, they stand up pretty high on the gunnel and seem like they'll be annoying when the bimini is not in use.
Then I came across these, low profile and, supposedly, quick-release. Does anyone have any experience with this style? As with most things on Amazon, they are a copy of a pricier version from a boat hardware company. Cleverly, there are the support-pole connection version and then a slightly different design for the front straps.
Worth noting that to mount the bimini, I have to put the hardware on the gunnel and have to drill/screw/rivet. I do not have any round rails to mount to nor do I have a fancy VersaTrack mounting channel.
Anyway, happy to hear all advice. Just looking for the least amount of hassle and things to trip over!
