BIG articulated streamer swap

Here are the rules:

1. 1 fly each (you can probably see where this is going, e.g. try not to go super cheap and easy, because these big flies are NOT cheap to tie nor to buy), can be different colors, but the platform has to be identical (probably easier to do the same colors though).
2. must be articulated (this can be a shank off the back of the hook, a shank off the front of the hook, or two hooks)
3. minimum primary hook size = 2/0 (thought about going 4/0, so that's definitely preferable)
4. I'll probably cap this at 6 (unless there's an overwhelming amount of interest, which is likely doubtful).
5-ish. would be preferable to be something that you've actually fished and can cast relatively easily on a 10wt.

Seems simple enough, no?

Participants:
1. @clarkman : 4/0 articulated glide-ish sarcastic jerk.
2. @Brute : BFWB (2/0 notsoBigFuckingWoolyBugger)
3. @SculpinSwinger :6/0....blah blah blah-BUCKTAIL
4. @RichS
5. @ptychocheilus : traditional and/or deadly?

Who's interested? anyone?

🍻

edit: I've got some sweet new bucktail that's been staring me in the face just begging to get used for something....

rule#6: send a self addressed label with your flies when you send them to me. Once (if) this gets filled, I'll start at group chat & once I've received everything, I'll get pics up on this thread.

How does the swap part work?
I'll edit the OP. but basically, you tie the flies (5, unless you want one of yours back), ship them to me with an SASE, and once everyone submits their flies, I ship back to each participant. Everyone gets a fly tie by each of the other participants.

I don’t possess any grappling hooks at my tyin’ desk. 😳😉
8/0 would be your grappling hook (sadly, I do have a couple of packs)....this 2/0-4/0 rule is TINY....

Ok...I have 2/0...I'll tie a BFWB...Big _______ Wolly Buggar...it was my most productive pike fly...

a'ight, I think I've got the descriptions right. so far....

When would the 6 flies need to be submitted by?
settle down....TOO many questions.....let's get this filled first, eh? does that mean you're in?

a'ight, you're in!

But honestly, probably within a month or two....

Could you post a picture of each submitted fly once they are all received, please...

Of course!

that goes without sayin'!

I can say this, that my basic platform is going to be either this:

or this:

But the colors may be slightly different since I recently got some really nice bucktail from my favorite fly shop Musky Fool. Free advertising for them!

kinda leaning towards the top one since it's a little easier to cast ALL day long and still dances better than John Travolta in "take your pick which of his movies are your favorite...."

Westfly model right there.

Although I have no use for a fly that requires a 10 weight I will second @clarkman on Musky Fool. They by far have the best selection of quality bucktail on the market. When it comes to color variety and quality hair I don’t think anyone can beat it. Additionally they are prompt shippers and great packaging.

High Fly Guy has better quality tails, he lacks the colors that Musky Fool offers. My guide in Canada turned me on to a sample tail. Check him out @clarkman he’s on instagram if anyone wants to find the best bucktail I’ve seen.

Thx for the info....always on the lookout. Especially for black (which is difficult to find super high quality to begin with because of how harsh the dying process for that is). Midwest Bucktails also has some pretty decent stuff as well. Back when Brad Bohen was offering up Primo Tail, THAT was the best stuff on the planet. I think I still have a chartreuse and a white tail from him. Both are super dense 5"+ fibers (up to 7") and that perfect blend of whispy and hollow. I've been babying those tails.

One spot left!
