Best protectant…

I've never even heard of such a thing. They make something to put on the PVC for UV protection or something?

Check out Mountain Buzz, a whitewater forum. Tell them what material, they should know

Armor All ... works for anything (hell, I don't know... my boat is a SuperCat made from heavy duty rubber raft material so doesn't need much in the way of a protectant. )

BTW: one of the original uses that brought about Armor All was for motorcycle seats. We had an Armor All sales guy come to our bike shop selling the stuff for motorcycle seats before it was sold in stores...

303 Protectant
I agree with you on using 303 Protectant. I’ve used ir for many years on my Outcast, and other pontoons, as well as on the rubber and vinyl on my RV’s, trucks, cars, etc. (including tires.). It is a GREAT product.

The thing with Armor All, and similar products, is they are petroleum based - it certainly makes products look shiny, but it will hasten their deterioration.

That’s what I’ve read about Armor All products. I stopped using them 20+ years ago. Could be wrong but people then seemed to know sumpin. Like, clean & shine your dash, looks fantastic, until a couple years later when the vinyl cracks.

My first thought is you slather up your tube etc and throw it in the water

When I read about sun screen wreaking havoc with fish reproduction I can't help but wonder what this stuff does and was it ever intended for use in this way?

They have adjusted the formula over the years so it ain't what it once was... but for better or worse?

called and left a message today…
When I bought my Kodiak Expedition Package over 10 years ago it included a small bottle of 303. It is still listed today, so I guess that's an endorsement from them.Screenshot_20220411-215158_Chrome.jpg

Armor All on a bike seat?
.......slip slidin' away.
That's what you'd think but it really isn't the case. I have used it with no problem. It never really caught on as a motorcycle product so they started selling it in other markets and that's when it started to become popular. Is it the best stuff? Probably not but it is well known. I only brought it up because of the bike relationship with the product and Roper is a bike guy.

A different perspective (full disclosure, I follow chemicals around the environment for my job):

Are you absolutely sure you need a "protectant" product for your watercraft? Are you sure it really helps in some way that significantly changes the lifespan of your watercraft? It might, I don't know. I do know some of these chemicals will end up in the water, in the fish, and then in us if we eat the fish later.

One minute of internet searching on a 303 product turns up 6 chemicals on "concern" lists in this product, including one carcinogen list and one "marine priority action chemical":

There's a good chance it has no real effect on the environment or us, but we probably know less about those harm/toxicity things than you might expect.

…for a Watermaster? I’m gonna give it a good cleaning first and the put the protectant on.

Roper

303 and nothing else. Strong enough for a boat but gentle enough for a latex gasket.
