NFR Best propane small bbq

Non-fishing related
If you think you're traveling with it a lot, the Weber Go Anywhere is awesome. But your use case is more like "cook at home and take it somewhere every so often", the Weber Q is much more of a grill. More expensive too, obviously. But a better value in my mind unless portability is your #1 concern.

Charbroil® Tru-Infrared™. Is IMHO the very best option. My grill cost about $250.. the ones that cost $50 are just fine...but if you want the "cat's meow" this is the one. No flare ups ever, even heat across the grill, simply put some wood chips on the grill to make it intensely smokey. It takes a green pellet and hooks right up to a propane tank...But I must say that Charbroil's claims of 30% juicier meat are not exaggerated. This "Tru-Infrared" technology is actually quite simple. It is used in some of the most high dollar "steak houses ". "Grill2Go x200" would be a good google search.

I went the route of the 5lb tank with an adapter. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner. Perfect smaller size for camping, etc.

a 5 gal tank with a multi port 'tree' our camping go to for decades. One hose to the Weber Q, another to our two burner stove, propane lamp on top of the tree..compact all in one.

As to camping...when younger and seeking out those more isolated and difficult to get to waterfront vistas around the west, our 4x4 towed a 4x6 frame trailer riding on 13" tires with a mounted plywood box, everything we needed contained within, boat cleats around the sides for bungy cording camp chairs and what not, 3/4" female flanges mounted on the 'outside' corners of the top...screw in the legs, flip the top 180', the lid now a table to match up with the folding table also carried in the box.

as to the tank tree.

I have had the weber Q for years. Used to bring it with me when I traveled for work. My vote for best small BBQ is the Q and love it.
Having said that. I also have a weber genesis at home and really don't see any advantage to using the small bbq even if I am cooking for one. Might use a little more gas but I can sear hotter, cook with non direct heat and have room for extra veggies or buns to toast etc.

I've bought my share of grills. Hibachi to stainless gas. I always tried to get the smokiest grill possible. Wood chips soaked in water, various metal "smoker boxes" etc...It was always challenging. After I got my Grill2Go X200 I can simply put the wood chips directly on the grill... the small holes in the "infrared grill"" stop them from falling down. TONS of smoke...this, for me was a game changer. Also, the heat is evenly distributed, and easily controlled ( super nice).... and the concept of infra red ( less like an oven and more like direct heat) is, for me, a game changer. With all that easily produced smoke, I enjoy experimenting with different wood flavors..Hickory, Mesquite, Cherrywood, Applewood etc... in combination with different meats. I have never been able to infuse wood flavors, with any BBQ, anywhere near to the level of the infra red technology.

Happy user of a Weber Genesis here.
