NFR Best concerts

Non-fishing related
1976…Foxboro Stadium. Boz Scaggs, Fleetwood Mac, and the debut of the Eagles with Joe Walsh and the Hotel California tour…

2013 Crossroads Guitar Festival, two nights at MSG…Clapton, Beck, Trucks, Mayer, Los Lobos, Gary Clark Jr, Jimmy Vaughn, Allmann Brothers, etc…

My favorite would have to be George Clinton and P Funk at the Fillmore West in the mid 90s. Always been a fan of the smaller venues and the energy was insane.

Another would be Yellowman at Moe's Alley in Santa Cruz. Small bar and only half full. That dude put on a show! That place used to get some good names on Thursday night before they would play the weekend in the Bay Area. Helped we knew how to sneak in too.

Went to see Three Dog Night in 1970, the front band was someone I'd never heard of, The Doobie Bros. Doobie bros absolutely rock the joint and a couple songs in to 3dn we left.

Dave Mathews at the Gorge was Killer, the drummer was amazing, biggest drum kit I've ever seen.

Moody Blues at the Paramount was memorable.

Dylan and the Band in '75' was good

Impossible to rank they were that good at the time....Janis and Big Brother, Chambers Brothers, Santana, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Moby Grape, Steppenwolf, Jefferson Airplane, the Dead, Country Joe and the Fish, etc etc...all at the old Fillmore, Avalon Ballroom, Family Dog and Speedway Meadow concerts in Golden Gate park.

Best concert since...Boz Scaggs at his 'Slim' nightclub in the early 2000's, who with an all star lineup of guests put on a 'Blues' night that blew the doors off until 2am...

Queensryche: Operation Mind Crime at the hall in Seattle center.

Metallica: Injustice For All, Seattle Collasium.
Black album, dont remember where.

Savarage: Gutter Ballet at Mad Dogs in Northgate. tiny venue with about 500 people crammed into it.

Robb Halfords solo band Fight at Under the Rail. Loudest concert I have ever been to!

Sound Garden at the Off Ramp, under a different name.

Alice in Chains at the Rock Candy New Years Eve.

So many others!

Several come to mind....

Faith No More at Keller Auditorium in PDX.

Soundgarden at Schnitzer Hall in PDX.

Korn at The Roseland Theater. Not because of the acoustics of the place, but the intimate setting to see a bad ass band.

Emerson, Lake and Palmer, Bucknell University July 74

Zeppelinfeld, Sept 79, an early Monsters of Rock, I think. Miriam Mekeba, AC/DC, Molly Hatchet, 38 , Motor Head, Omega, can't remember all of them , but The Who played for 2 solid hours..

Oct 81, NMSU (New Mexico State University) Styx and REO Speedwagon

Static-X in ‘07 was wild for me while in highschool, was stoked to get in being too young.

Bone Thugz n Harmony in Bozeman MT was a hysterical sh*t show packed with memories, played in a stable/fair ground.

Lynyrd Skynyrd, 1998 Great Falls, Montana.

First concert I ever went to was Lynyrd Skynyrd. 1988 and my mom took me and some buddies as we were 13. New Years eve and what I remember was free bird went 17 minutes and a naked chick rode a giant balloon down at midnight that dropped thousands of ping pong balls. Probably still have a few somewhere.

Body Count/Metallica/Guns n' Roses Sept. 24 1992. You never forget your first big show! We had to leave after GnR's first song because it was a school night. A deal's a deal and it paved the way to countless other school night shows.

I finally got to see the full set a handful of years ago when this popped up.

Grateful Dead 12/11/94 and 6/3/95. Not their best by any means but I got on the bus when I could.

Neil Young Aberdeen Scotland 6/24/2009. Tears in my eyes during "Cortez The Killer".

A couple symphonic performances over the years but Beethoven's 5th and 9th were especially powerful.

Turbonegro Oct. 7 2003 Graceland. Coming up on 20 years! My band's playing on Oct. 7 2023; maybe we'll have to throw "Denim Demon" into the set.

Front and center for Desert Trip 2nd weekend all three days Oct 14-16 2016. Day 1: Dylan followed by Rolling Stones. Day 2: Neil Young and POTR followed by Paul McCartney. Day 3: The Who followed by Roger Waters.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard residency in Carnation June 16-18 2023. Front and center all three nights. I'm all over the Nugs videos but these two are fun because Ambrose is all up in my business.
Grim Reaper 6/16

Straws In The Wind 6/18

Well OK.
Grateful Dead with the Allman Brothers at RFK Stadium, DC June 9 & 10, 1973. Epic weekend. o_O
Grateful Dead at Barton Hall, Ithaca NY May 8, 1977. One of their best shows ever.
Stevie Ray Vaughn at the Paramount, Seattle 1986 or 89. Amazing energy for a three piece band. Stevie Ray was like a Supernova.
Dave Brubeck playing Carnegie Hall when his two sons were in the band, sometime in the 70's.
