Bend area in middle of October (updated with trip report)

Appreciate all the advice! Long term forecast looks cold! Can't wait. Leaning Paulina.

I haven't been there for 27 years so this is useless information. But I used to like to put in at the first launch point I came to and kick clockwise down the left side to the white slide. I caught some nice browns there over the years and hit a mayfly hatch near the white slide that produced a memorable Atlantic salmon day on dry flies.

Billy, how did your trip turn out?
Sorry for the delayed report!

I fished a volcano lake that starts with the letter P 😁

Had a ruff start. Got out there at 0730 am. Only to have car die when I went to move it. It was 30 degrees and really not many people around. This was after unloading everything. Pumping up tube. Getting rods ready. Had to walk through the campground and finally found someone to give me a jump. I loaded everything back up. Went to La Pine. Got new battery. Back to lake and fishing by noon. Not the start you want. But finally on the water.

Third cast in with a jig craw caught a giant 6 pound rainbow. This thing really fought well:

At times the wind was concerning and so I didn't venture to the far side choosing instead to really pick apart the structure with sonar on the stretch I launched from.

Got a couple browns in 17-19 inch range:

Another 20 rainbows in the 10-16 inch range. Mainly caught fish on either a big jig craw off the type 5 or a black/red simiseal off the aqualux.

Fun streamer strikes and nice healthy fish.

The lake is just gorgeous:

Can't wait to be back!

Nice day on that lake. Looks like your Eastern Washington Fishing prowess transfers to Central Oregon just fine!
