Baseball 2025

Voting is tonight - Raleigh or Judge for MVP, whoya got? (I know, partisan crowd)

Go Royals

Emmanuel Clase or Luis Ortiz

The award is for most valuable player not all around best batter. The Yankees without Judge would still be the Yankees but the M's without Cal Raleigh would not have made it to the playoffs let alone come within a few outs of going to the World Series. Perhaps Cal is too humble.

East coast bias prevails in the AL voting, too bad!!

He got hit with the "I don't watch the games, just look at stats" tax.

Single season fWAR leader by a catcher
10.1 Buster Posey 2012
9.2 Johnny Bench 1972
9.1 Cal Raleigh 2025
9.1 Mike Piazza 1997
8.6 Brian McCann 2008

Single season fWAR leader by an outfielder
14.1 Babe Ruth 1923
12.8 Babe Ruth 1921
12.6 Babe Ruth 1927
12.4 Carl Yastrzemski 1967

10.1 Aaron Judge 2025

Cal had the 3rd best season as a catcher all time, while 2025 Judge comes in somewhere around 37th best outfielder season of all time, at least according to WAR. That's my argument for why Cal got screwed over. Don't compare them to each other, compare them to their historical peers.
Yes, Judge was great, but not even top 10 all time for his position (dividing the best seasons across the 3 outfield spots) while Cal was top 3 of all time. Historical, transformative greatness should be rewarded.

The wife is a Yanks fan so I watched A LOT of their games. They don't make the playoffs without Judge either.

Just read that the M's are in the process of finalizing a deal to bring Josh Naylor back to Seattle for the next 5 years. Guess that makes a bit of a statement that is good to see. I'll bet there are a lot of guys in that clubhouse who are smiling right now.

Yep. Seems like a no brainer. Great defense and he rakes. Sign him.

Plus, he has an astonishing collection of shoes/cleats - always ready to make a fashion statement.

Huge for the M's. Signing Naylor was the absolute must for the M's in order for the offseason to be a success. Hopefully they keep adding from here.
