I’m really hoping that Ichiro receives a unanimous first-ballot induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame making him only the 2nd player in MLB history to do so.

That would be good, unfortunately, unanimous is a joke, who voted against Willie Mays, Henry Aaron, Ted Williams, and on and on. What was it that made them undeserving?

Ichiro, Sabathia, Wagner gain Hall of Fame entry
Ichiro Suzuki is the first Japanese-born player voted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. He'll be joined by CC Sabathia and Billy Wagner in the Class of 2025.
Now there is a class act and one tough dude. May he always be a Mariner.

Like I said, the "unanimous" vote is absurd - only one ever, Mariano Rivera, and while he was perhaps the greatest reliever ever, he was far from the greatest player ever.
Respectfully, I think we live in a different age now with the advent of the internet. Every stat is available to the common person and I imagine multiply that by 5 for the 400+ voters. It tends to be less a popularity contest than it was when I was collecting Topps BB cards, 7 pack, and the best gum god ever created back in the 50’s and more of a stat driven election now especially with half the world waking up in the morning counting their “likes” on their InstaFart accounts. Love to find out the back story on why, but we may never know
