Was Ohtani's game the other night the best hitting performance (for a single game) of all time? 6-6, 3 homers, 2 SBs, 10 RBI's to reach a milestone of 50 homers and stolen bases in a single season that has never been done before in the history of western civilization? (that last part is a tribute to Bill Walton).

Pretty dang impressive, but I want to see him do it as a pitcher...

Ho-hum......Dodgers win division for the 11th time in 12 years. They don't have the pitching to win the World Series but their grit and come from behind late in the game ability has made them fun to watch. Ohtani was just unbelievable and has to be a shoo-in for MVP. As the team with the highest attendance in baseball they are not afraid to spend money and the results are obvious-day in and day out almost 50,000 for every game. As a fan for 76 years now I have seen some lean times but nothing like the underachieving Mariners. Don't bet on the Mariners until they win something. And don't bet on them winning anything.

I always enjoy Octobers, because the airwaves are free of Mariner broadcasts and sport radio talk. It's almost like moldy pink salmon have been flushed away by a heavy Fall rain.

A penalty flag has been thrown for a personal foul, 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct and piling on. Kinda sad and pitiful actually when a "sports fan" appears to derive the most pleasure out of deriding and denigrating a team some his neighbors really enjoy watching and cheering for even when they have suspect ownership and thus a history of falling short.

Pheew…..that was close.

Just enough oxygen left in the tank to cross the finish line before the curtain fell. It’s teams like this that surprise you post season…..or self combust. Here’s hoping the former.
