I headed to a mid-elevation mountain lake today. Still lots snow on Chimney Peak and Summit Chief. The lake was really cold.

A windy day but my 9' Winston 4 and 7/8's oz threw nice long casts with a 6 weight full sinking line. The original owner of this Winston had a sense of humor. The rod says "Made for Canadian Rainbows Unltd."

Turned a triple play.

Was hoping for a grand slam (I've caught Kokanee in this lake before) but no luck. A size 10-12 black hackle peacock, black carey special and olive brown carey special did the trick. Old flies are good flies.
