Visited a lake at 3190 feet off the mountain loop highway. Like the hat? The forest road has one sketchy part unless you have 4 wheel drive. A float tuber was leaving as we arrived. First time I've seen another float tuber on a high lake in 2 years. Put my Sharpes 85 and intermediate line to work stripping flies along the shoreline rocks and logs.

A slow day with only 5 fish to three rods. Our top flies were a size 12 zulu, size 12 silver invicta and size 12 butcher. Healthy cutthroat with broad shoulders.

Callibaetis spinners were dancing but only one fish seemed interested. Bright sun and surprisingly warm water made me wish I'd brought my full sinking line. Great to be in the mountains.
