@jeradjames and I hiked in to a foothills pond today. "Easy trail" I said. What a difference a year makes. You see the trail?

Jerad has officially joined the Wilderness Lite club...

We lost our way coming and going and had to cross some nasty logging slash. The pond is the same as ever. I found fish on a Phillipson Bamboo 8'6" 5 weight, intermediate line and an olive carey or dandy green nymph. Jared found fish on a Graywolf 8'6" fiberglass rod, sinking line and (what else) a Black Pennell.

The fish were 12-14 inches. Maybe the bigger fish from last year have all died out. One more foothills pond with @Mike Monsos next week and it will be time for the alpine lakes.

It was nice to get out before work and fish a lake that’s been on my “to fish” list. Thanks Dave.

I tied these pedestrian versions up this week to fish

I had a six piece glass rod made by Shane at GrayWolf last year for my backpacking and stocking trips for the Trailblazers. It’s definitely not ultralight but sure fun to play a fish on. My candy cane rod due to the spigot ferrules.
