Greg Armstrong and I headed to a chilly small lake in the Cascade foothills today. I fished a 9' Winston bamboo 4 and 7/8's ounce 6/7 weight. Greg fished a couple Granger 8642's. There was snow on the hills above the lake.

Slow going with an intermediate line and a pair of size 12 Greenwells. Things picked up when I put on a full sinking line, a size 10 black wooly bugger and a size 10 olive wooly bugger. 50/50 mix of small recent stockers and these fish which I guess were put in the lake last year.

Highlight of the trip was hearing Greg Armstrong tell the story of how he got lost hunting in a November snowstorm and spent the night huddled under a tree sans matches or fire trying to keep from falling asleep. The other highlight was Greg's Sou'wester hat. Check it out.
